I wouldn't be surprised if we negotiated a lower basic salary upon relegation, but perhaps over a longer term contract.

Looks like an error of judgement now, but if they reduced his basic wage then it's not really unforgiveable. And our board lacking judgement is hardly back page news.

I also find it difficult to believe that any reasonably run football club would not budget for the possibility of sacking the manager mid-season; whatever that figure might be. But, again, with our board you never know.
