I think they have visions of Neil turning into the next

Alex Ferguson at which point they can milk plaudits from fat and wide for being the club that bucked the trend and stuck with their manager.

Either that or they have indeed f**ked up and given him a contract with a huge payoff on termination off the back of one promotion via the playoffs.
