Even though I was expecting the defeat, the manner of it again leaves frustration and incomprehension. Another performance that was excellent in isolated patches but, overall, weak and missing in both passion and ability. To be honest the same words could some up the whole season!
The Wigan home game comes to mind where we were both brilliant and getting overrun at the same time?! We got away with that and there were enough wins to dismiss the odd nature of the victory but now, we've been found out and the whole thing is in danger of imploding.
I'm not a fan of sacking managers but this clearly isn't working and there doesn't seem to be any improvements heading over the horizon. Question is, who takes over? The regular motley band of "names" fill me with dread as they all bring too much baggage, no real consistency and we have a terrible recent record with "named" managers with experience; Rioch, Roeder... please not a Pardew or similar.
Will January help? I doubt it, we don't appear to have loads of cash to spend so it's down to shipping out some of the current crop of underperformers before we can buy. Not really the recipe for a happy New Year.
Time for another whisky! Chin up Wrathers 😘 🍹
