Automatic is gone and playoffs are a lottery

unless you are much better than the other teams, which we don't seem to be.

So is a slim chance of going up, given our squad and resources, really good enough?

If you want to go up this season (which must be the aim surely) then the time to act is now to try and get points in December and allow new manager time to assess squad before January. If our current form continues it will soon be too late.
