Our use of fullbacks as the width with the wider midfielders wandering everywhere is so easily exposed and means we need two centre mids to babysit in centre mid, which isn't anyone in the squads natural game, bar maybe Tettey, but he's in pub league form at present.
I'd go with Brady on the left and Canos on the right while Pinto is out. Martin is too slow and way way out of form, Whits is injured(?) and badly s**t.
The three behind them, well, bit of a bloody mess but I'd go Turner as the out and out stopper to go up against the opponents big bastard forward (there's always a big bastard).
I'd flank him with Klose and Bennett. Bassong is just a constant liability, I think thats become quite clear. The muscle of Turner and Bennett might stop Klose getting bullied so much and allow him to lead and guide the defence as the 'spare', coming out to close down any opponent in the hole if needed. He'd need to use his brains, but I think he is capable if he can get motivated properly and regain some level of performance.
In centre mid I'd go Thompson and Dorrans. Howson in the reckoning when fit, obvs.
Wide right I'd play a Murphy for pace and a quick counter outlet, as well as crossing and shooting ability. On the left I'd play Naismith, yes he's a s**t footballer who appears to hate being here, but he's a f**king pure ass goalscorer. He can make all the runs he wants to find space, running in from the flank to cause problems and get on the end of things. Out of possession he can harry the opposing fullback before they get a run at Brady.
As for the central striker, I'd go Jerome for his all round game.
I really don't think yet another week of 4-5-1 is going to do us any favours whatsoever. Its been totally sussed and doesn't work with the personel available.
