The lower Barclay would be perfect for safe standing however, rather than being innovative and trying to reconnect with the fans, the club invested heavily in a meaningless giant screen.
I don't think the atmosphere is dire but there is always a correlation of what's happening on the pitch.
Football is generally heading in the wrong direction for most traditional fans. Money is the prime driver for clubs and I don't buy the community club bulls**t. We are following the Wembley corporate model with minimal investment in facilities. I'm reminded of someone starting out in property development as a sideline. The ground is full of cheap B and Q goods from hand driers and manual taps. We've even done away with half time entertainment... I wasn't a fan but where is the "community" explaination for this.
The football is troublesome right now but preferable to Hughtons unambitious and defensive style.
The prices for the consumer however don't add up and I agree it won't be long before fans leave in droves to be replaced by affluent families humming along to songs and doing Mexican waves.
Too many words I know ..
Fond move up to the Upper Barclay .. sounds like you'd enjoy it more there.
