if the poppy is non-political and purely to remember the fallen...

why does it always seem to be accompanied (at sporting events, at least, like at halftime at Carrow Road last week) by a parade of current conspicuously non-fallen service personnel. That has nothing whatsoever to do with remembering the fallen - we'd already done that prior to kick-off.
You want to generate a round of applause for military personnel then fine, but don't mix it up with Remembrance because that just cheapens and politicises it. Leave Remembrance as just for commemorating the fallen and roll out the military if you must on another day.

But enough about that for another year...
