Not a phrase as such, but the obsession with zonal marking

whenever you see a goal from a corner conceded by a team that employs zonal marking you invariably get a comment that zonal marking was responsible.
But statistically teams that zonal mark are no more vulnerable from corners than teams that man-to-man mark, yet you NEVER see a goal conceded by a team that man marks blamed on the fact that they use man-to-man marking.

In neither case is the system itself at fault, just the fact that someone hasn't done their job properly. If everyone does their job properly both systems are just fine.
