Here you go...

With the football transfer window now shut, BBC Sport talks to the agents involved in a high-profile move to discover how a deal is a done.

David Baldwin and Chris Bromage are the agents of Wales' 24-year-old striker Robert Earnshaw, who left West Bromwich Albion for Norwich in a ?3.5m deadline day move.

DECEMBER

Bromage:
Robert had a great goal-scoring record but it became clear he was not a regular part of Bryan Robson's plans and the relationship broke down over the course of six months.

Baldwin:
Rob told Chris about the situation and he spoke to Bryan Robson and the chairman Jeremy Peace to see if he was going to get a run of games.

But it didn't seem that was going to happen so we put an official letter into the club.

Norwich's new signing Robert Earnshaw
Earnshaw fell out of favour at West Brom
They said they didn't want to sell someone that scored 14 in 19 games last year so rejected our request.

If West Brom wanted to keep him there was nothing he could do.

He would have continued to give his all and hope that if a club came in they would look at it.

We immediately put in a second transfer request and the club indicated if they could get a certain fee they would look at something.

OPENING WEEK OF JANUARY

Baldwin:
The club gave us permission to speak to other people to see if there was any interest.

At this stage you make phone calls and find out who was looking for a striker of Rob's kind.

From a Premiership point of view if the fee was lower there would have been no lack of takers, but ?3.5m is a substantial amount.

I was in the throes of doing a deal for Carl Robinson to go from Sunderland to Norwich and Rob's name was never mentioned.

MID-JANUARY

Baldwin:
On about 20 January I spoke to the chief scout at Norwich who asked me the situation.

Norwich desperately wanted Rob but at that point thought the money was way too much, but they hadn't sold Dean Ashton for ?7.25m yet.

Southampton offered a swap deal which West Brom accepted but Rob turned down.

Sometimes a player gets a feeling for a situation and it was one he didn't fancy and he made an immediate decision.

There were three or four clubs who were very keen and wanted us to keep them informed on a day-to-day basis if there was a possibility of the fee dropping.

We got to a situation a week ago where we thought nothing was going to happen and we would have to wait until the next transfer window.

It was at that point that Norwich stepped up their interest.

30 JANUARY

Baldwin:
The clubs reached an agreement about the transfer fee and then it was a case of trying to get personal terms sorted.

Late on Monday Chris spoke to Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster and did the donkey work of going back and forth to sort out a deal.

Chris was in Leeds so it was all done on the telephone - talks went on until 0100 GMT on Tuesday.

There was a problem as the only time they could get a scan in Norwich was 6am the next day and we hadn't got the rest agreed at that time.

31 JANUARY

Baldwin:
Transfer deadline day and I had manager Nigel Worthington on the phone at 0800 to find out what the situation was.

Bromage:
We started negotiations at 0900 and they continued until 1330.

Rob was with West Brom in London for the Charlton game and Norwich were due to play Reading so they picked him up, took him to hospital for a medical and his scans at 1330.

Carl Robinson had earlier told David that Norwich's medicals are by far the most thorough he had ever done.

We drafted a contract at 1430 but there was a couple of changes which took over an hour to sort out.

Baldwin:
Chris had gone through the deal with Rob and he was happy so Chris signed the deal at 1545 and faxed it to the club.

Rob met the club and went on the coach to their game.

Rob told me everything was done and dusted but I thought I should check so I rang Neil Doncaster and he said Rob has still to sign the contract.

Neil was trying to get to the Madejski Stadium but was stuck in traffic.

Rob eventually signed the deal at half-time in the game.

Everything needs to get processed by the FA but as long as the paperwork reaches the FA before midnight it is all right and providing it is on a proper contract they process it in a matter of minutes.

Rob had already done some photographs with Nigel and it was pretty much a deal - we were just waiting from confirmation from the club.

Neil Doncaster sent me a text message to confirm it - he was registered at 2253 GMT.
