Agree with those who said Ashton looked a bit, shall we say, on the excess side? And why did Pardew send him on (noticed that the travelling West Ham fans gave him a rapturous welcome!) and play him deep, on the right, there he was, defending corners and running into them on that side of the pitch...perhaps he jsut wanted him to "run about lots" (to make him feel at home straight away?) in order to help shed some of that baggage?

Bentley-saw this morning he cost Blackburn ?500'000! Bargain-who would you have for your half a million, Hughes, Etuhu, or Bentley? Blackburn are playing him where, I think, we played him just the once. Took his goals well and got very excited, infact, I think it was the most animated I've seen him. He'll come good.
