the long awaited follow up album to the debut smash Plague of Ladybirds by Cockwomble?

A dark esoteric work

Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final is the second studio album by the English rock band Cockwomble, released in October 2016 by the Bouncing Bristols label. An instant commercial success worldwide, Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final went platinum on its first day of release in the United Kingdom. Despite the lack of an official single or music video as publicity, Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final became the first Cockwombe release to debut at number one in the entire region of Bungay. This success was credited variously to a unique marketing campaign, the early Internet leak of the album on Radio free dubbs, and anticipation after the band's esoteric and franky bloody downright dangerous world tour of North Norfolk.

Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final was recorded in New York, Copenhagen, Bishop Stortford and on a houseboat slash studio on the River Ant with reknowned hip-hop/thrash metal producer B.I.G. PROtuberance The album's songwriting and recording were experimental for Cockwomble and a divergence from their usual Home Counties Country & Jazz Xylophone based brand of rock, with a more anthemic cheesey sound. Influenced by Krautrock, jazz, and 20th century classical music, Cockwomble abandoned their three Kazoo line-up for a wider range of instruments on Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final, using Washboards, the Ondes martenot, and, on certain compositions, a pair of farting Yaks. Inevitable consequence of missing a pen in the 2002 playoff final also contains more minimal and abstract lyrics than the band's previous work. Singer Bish E Barnaby has said the album was not intended as "art", but reflects the music they listened to at the time when they worked as Chicken nugget carvers in their native Norfolk. Original artwork by Stanley Donwood and Bish E, and a series of short animated films about Parsnips, accompanied the album. Nice.
