1.Reading are a team with no weaknesses in any department. In contrast we are weak at the back, in wide midfield and upfront.
2. Reading have specialist wide midfielders who supply the strikers with quality ball. We have no such players in our squad let alone our team.
3. Reading play with the confidence of a winning team . We have no confidence .
4. Reading acknowlrdge the value of quality as much as hard work ( the latter coming with the confidence) We put no value on quality and have a team of workhorses who becauses of all our weaknesses at 1-3 above are not even competing in terms of workrate.
Regrettably neither our manager of the month for December or the Board appear to have recognised this our signings. I have no problem with Johanssen and Rehmann ( why did our manager of the month for December not play them both from the start?) but splashing all our cash on Earnshaw was in my view misplaced. With Johanssen we would have had an adequate strike force - JJ, Huckerby, McVeigh and Thorne.
The money should have been spent in buying a decent right back left sided and right sided midfielder. In my view and with the money we spent on Earnshaw we could have got Wright from Wigan ( or an alternative specialist right back) Halford from Colchester and Commons from Notts Forest.
We could then have a first team such as Green, Wright, Rehmann, Doherty, Drury, Halford, Saffri, Robinson/Etuhu,Commons,Johansonn,Huckerby
/Mcveigh.
Now a team like that playing 4-4-2 in the Reading style is for more exciting than a team with Earnshaw and what we have got now.
We have unfortunately put all our eggs in one basket but have failed to mend the basket.
