but I can guarantee it's not as nice as you think it is. Yours may even be better.
Higher import prices don't make you poorer unless everything else remains the same. Which it rarely does. So it is a case of 'swings and roundabouts' for everyone.
If I was a betting man, I'd say most of us won't really see much practical difference in our day to day lives.
Did you feel richer when the £ was at its highs vs the $/€? I can't even remember when that was, so I certainly didn't. Maybe imported fruit & veg was a bit cheaper. I probably spent the savings on booze instead so was no better off.
