Is he doing an outstanding job? No, not really. Is he doing a good enough job? Yes, obviously.
The thing about supporting a club like Norwich is, 99% of the time, there's always going to be that tinge of frustration. That sense of never quite being able to completely fulfill our potential. We're hardly unique in that; there's scores of clubs in the same boat. Meaning we have, surely, to be grateful for where we are overall.
Right now, I don't look at us and think "top 2 nailed on". I think "top 3". Brighton are my concern. I think we're a bit lightweight, what happened in midweek will probably recur on a few occasions, and that they may prove more solid (and certainly considerably stronger defensively) in the end. Klose and Tettey are massively important; we can't afford an injury to either.
2 seasons ago, there was something relentless about us after Neil came in. We're more opportunistic, even fitful at times now. But here's the thing: other than in the areas I mentioned, our squad is so so strong in comparison to 22 other clubs, and our manager is obviously one of the best in the league.
Sitting 2nd right now, still not having played that convincingly, with a level headed, grounded squad and manager who've been over the course before? No-one can complain about that. Whether AN is right for the Prem or not is another matter; we have to get there first, but there's no-one out there better qualified to get us there.
