Bassong played with Bennett at Everton and looked decent even despite the fact Whitaker was giving their left winger acres of space.

As soon as Martin comes in to the middle all composure seems to go out the window regardless of who is playing next to him. Any centre back playing next to Martin at Cb or Whit at right back is going to struggle.

The one positive I took from the Shef Weds and Ipswich (second half) draws was that although we were not great, the defence looked pretty solid. Ditto the Bristol City game.
