Season after season we've seen managers drop Wes for "tough away matches where we need more bite in midfield". What usually happens is that without Wes we can't retain the ball as well, we don't generate as much pressure, the opposition get confident, we get run ragged ball chasing, and we lose. The stats on average pints with Wes starting and Wes not starting are significant IIRC.
