the UCI's record of rigour and integrity isn't exactly great

Sky and British Cycling have held themselves up as being whiter than white

on a more general point, if a rider is so ill that they need to resort to such a strong treatment (as i've seen commented that this treatment is, but also that it's quite normal) should they be allowed to race, if only for the sake of their own health?

there's a question there for football and playing through injuries too, the pressure that can be put on athletes, which can comprise them in the long run and cut short careers etc.
