Well firstly he's a goofy Welshman
But mainly because todays dealings are just typical Worthy - all tried and tested with little risk taken. Wind back to the days of the 70's and 80's. Why were we successful then as compared to now. Well we had a scouting system that unearthed talent lower down the leagues (eg Bruce, Drinkell) which when combined with a successful youth policy meant a good team. We would then but experiences older quality (O'Neill, Channon etc) to blend with this and the whole thing worked well. We now have a conservative cautious clueless manager, only able to make "safe" buys and utterly unwilling to ever promote any of our younger players
