Hedging bets ....

seems to be what the club is about (unless there is a last minute flood of panic signings).

If the club doesn't spend the Ashton money and, as looks likely, the play-offs are beyond us then the club and Worthington or his replacement will have funds for rebuilding in the summer.

If the club were to make the play offs with the existing journeymen the momentum could just get them back to the Prem. and the club could add to the ?4M with the Sky money and try again with better quality players this time.
