Oooh - that reminds me ...

Never understood this. "He's lost a yard of pace".

Heard that said about Fowler over the weekend. "He was never the quickest, but evenso, he's lost a yard of pace."

What, exactly is a yard of pace? A yard is a measure of distance, three feet, *holds hands about 10cm apart* yay much less than a meter. I understand that. "pace" is speed, quickness, whatever, which is a measure of distance over time. Doesn't make any sense.

Also, while I'm up, "He's over-run the ball." No he hasn't - he's let the ball run away from him. Over-running the ball would entail running too far/fast and leaving the ball slightly behind.

Sort it out. Yes Motson, I'm talking to you, you slack t**t.
