Question, I think, is whether a lower fat diet makes people more prone to snacking and more sugar. (Correlation doesn't prove any causation, remember...)
Authors' opinion here seems to be yes. But I don't think they have very much evidence for that, and I certainly don't think it's an established view from other studies.
