Monetary policy restricted by the single currency and too many different economies using it. Economies have been bent over by being members of the single currency.
what happened to that increase to trade that was supposed to be the redemption? It never showed.
The customs union that came TEN YEARS earlier created trade benefits. Just about every economist is in agreement that the euro has done nothing to boost trade when it was one of the selling points. But then I'm just an economist. What do I know
Not only has the austerity been imposed on a number of countries ie Greece Italy Spain Portugal Finland, but the euro didn?t even manage to boost trade and wealth in the manner predicted. So, yes, the euro?s a failure.
