First it was the dash 8 from Brisbane to Emerald, then an even smaller prop (Fairchild metroliner) out to our remote site, occasionally replaced with a chopper if the roads were washed out. Every single flight without fail I felt like I was going to die. They're a bit bouncy in turbulence and then every October as storm season hit it got worse.
One particularly memorable flight out to our site on the metro, we hit a big storm. The plane was up, down, side to side, rolling all over the show. At one point we rolled so far that the wings from tip to tip were vertical and I could see the ground straight out of my window. The pilot kept shouting to us that he was pushing on through and we were nearly out of it (as there was no segregation from the cockpit to the cabin). When we landed he turned around to us and said 'At one point, I didn't think we were going to make it.'
