I was stalked in the British Library once. It went on for weeks. The stalker was a man who looked like the spitting image of one of the chief Jack the Ripper suspects.

The staff saw what was going on, but they couldn't do anything unless I was attacked. Very reassuring. Please don't make me go back there. Please, please! I'll do anything: I'll even keep all future posts to a series of grunts and swear words if that helps?
