Patience, people, please!

We all want to see some action in terms of new signings but for obvious reasons we cannot be told exactly what is going on until various deals are done and dusted, and while today would have been nice it is going to be no great hardship if we don't hear too much until after the weekend.
One thing is for sure, I remain convinced that we probably have provisional and definite bids in for half a dozen or so players and I for one will be a tad disappointed if we don't land three or four of them.
Players I think we are probably 'in' for include Jerome, Davenport, Earnshaw, Eastwood, Halford, McSheffrey, Quashie and Koumas.
Other players the Club may well have at least considered (who I wouldn't touch with a bargepole) are possibly Jeffers, Lisbie, Ormerod, Adebola, McLeod and Gray.
From all the information available today from various sections of the media and Club websites I wouldn't be surprised if the following appraisals were not too far out at the moment.
Jerome - we have made a bid which could yet come to fruition. Hammam and Ridsdale are not the easiest people to deal with and Birmingham's late interest doesn't help the situation. We could know tomorrow.
Davenport - we can get him if we want him.
Earnshaw - a firm bid of ?2 million would probably land him just now. Robson needs the dosh to buy Hasselbaink.
Eastwood - I have a feeling Southend will be tempted by an inflated price, so how badly do we want him?
Halford - nothing is likely to happen before the U's cup game. Expect immediate action one way or the other after it.
McSheffrey - probably the most suitable striking option for the way we are playing at the moment. He's going to be relatively expensive though and there may be stiff competition from other Clubs.
Quashie - we need midfielders of his type and he could be a surprise buy for us.
Koumas - the key to it all in my view. Get him, say Earnshaw or McSheffrey, Halford and perhaps one other and all I could say would be whoopee!!
