It must have been worse surely when only 3 teams got into Europe but

I honestly don't remember in the 90's and 00's it being so clear that so many teams had nothing to play for for several weeks at the end of the season. There wasn't even the same prize money at stake.

have I just erased it from memory or did players just have more pride?
