Talking to somebody who has dealt with McNally recently

Told me that we missed a lot of targets due to his hard nosed attitude during transfers. Basically said he backed himself into a corner with absolute final offers, and we missed out by a relatively small amount of money on some players who we were definately chasing.
The exact words he used was he's penny wise and pound stupid.
