This season has been a big let down after the joys of the playoffs a distant memory. It is clear going forward that we need to again re address the little old Norwich mentality that seemed to have gone when mcnally took over. The last 2 prem seasons we have fallen back into it, not strengthening in the summer to the required level.
Lessons must be learned from that. We had 2 months to get players in having highlighted where our weaknesses were. The board need holding to account for this.
Alex Neil still doesn't know his strongest lineup and plays bizarre tactics such as the lb and rb pushing so far up leaving jeaine Defoe all the space in the world vs Sunderland. This was not mistakes by the players but quite obviously they had been told to hold higher up. If by Christmas we are not top 6 he should go. He is not he messiah, his back room staff are the most inexperienced in the premier league and it is same old little Norwich regards to this just as it was with Adams. Sunderland will stay up when they looked dead and buried, thanks to big Sam and Defoe.
Now we might not be able to afford a Defoe, but we could have done much better than jerome and bamford.
This summer will be key to seeing if the board and the new recruitment set up are going to show ambition. If not they should be held to account. We need to improve year on year not keep shooting ourselves in the foot whilst taking a large jump backwards.
