I just think its so unfair to point out all the s**t things that have gone on under the McNally tenure without pointing out the good things.
The original seven year plan called for promotion from LG1 to the champs to the PL..... and also included a relegation from the PL before a further promotion.
In the first two seasons NCFC had one of the highest NET spends on players of any team in LG1 or the Champs.
With shrewd buys and turnovers at each level we moved up to the PL.
All the time we did not vastly add to our debt.
So when we did get into the PL it didn't take too many seasons to wipe out our vast debts.
We spent three seasons in the PL.
Even with the relegation at the end of the 5th season, that's pretty much 4 successful season on the field and 5 seasons if you are looking at the financial stability of the club.
The 6th season we get promoted straight away after the board makes a brave decision to replace the inexperienced Neil Adams with only a slightly more Experienced Alex Neil.
7th season is almost over, clearly we need a miracle. The real shame is we were doing so well up to the Jan 2nd.....I actually think we improved the squad in the window but we have just had such a bad run of injuries, luck and poor form that its been a buzz saw. Clearly we don't have the squad quality to cope with losing 1st team players.
Its clear that on the pitch there has many more successful seasons than bad seasons.
The board clearly stuck with Hoots too long but at the same time he delivered our highest PL finish in a while. At that time our squad quality wasn't amazing and we were clearly punching above our weight.
In many of the seasons when we were in the PL, there were clubs who were struggling financially......this season there are NO clubs that are not willing to shell out multi-millions for players.
Its clearly tougher.
Maybe the financially responsible model wont work going forward when so many teams are willing to vastly overspend on both transfers and players wages.
They have the fallback of a rich owner.
Yo yo clubs like Birmingham payed the price for vastly overspending without the financial backing.
Its taken them years to get back to a position in the champs where they look like they can challenge the top 6.
QPR is another club that has vast financial support but has been f**ked by horrific contracts, probably without the relegation clauses we insist on.
We don't have a backer like TF........ getting one is a huge gamble.
Its highly unlikely that person is a true fan.
