Re 'unqualified' teachers being paid less, is that right? I'd have thought there is a rigid pay structure in teaching so all new teachers would be paid the same.

For the record, I had quite a few teachers (at private school) who hadn't done teacher training qualifications and they were all excellent.

I don't really know a lot about academy schools but I do agree with your general point that the current Tory government seems to be shambolic on education policy!
