Like Rob Smyth, it was my first year at university, and I'd been placed in uni accommodation in a flat with a Mancs Utd fan as the only person who understood my Norwich Have Just Been Relegated To The Endsleigh League woe. The two ladies we shared the flat with could give one solitary f**k about the footballing.

Given the chances to watch Norwich were slim, and I Had The Right Hump With Football Anyway It's A Stupid Game No I Don't Want To Spend Five Hours On The Stupid Train To Watch Stupid Norwich, I ended up watching a lot of Mancs Utd in pubs with my flatmate and a gaggle of other lads, mostly Mancs Utd fans, but not solely (a West Brom fan, a Newcastle lad, a Sheffield Utd fan).

And we had some f**king great times that year. Halcyon days isn't it though. Jumpers for goal posts.
