I put some thoughts at User Posted Link - see what you mean about the Frankenmountain theme (and wasn't complaining about the violence - it's an accurate portrayal of the Tudor-era world (Dothraki are like Genghis Khan-era Mongolians so it's a bit mixed up), but with magic and dragons. The fantasy elements don't detract, though, from the accuracy of the portrayal of life in the Middle Ages, which by modern standards was violent and misogynistic (despite this, many of the strongest characters are women).
There are strong parallels between Sansa and Queen Elizabeth I, for example. Loads of good stuff on YooToob about all this.
