Derby, Forest and Villa won it four times between then in a 10 year period. Fine achievements of course, against the general trend... but a far more level playing field. Watford, Ipswich, Southampton all came second in the early 80s too.

It just wasn't the herculean task it is now.

Non-moneyed teams simply do not win the Premier League. It is beyond them... totally and utterly unthinkable.
