It's teriffic, you ought to try it.
500g Podge Oats, 60g butter, 4 tbsp caramel sauce, 6 tbsp golden syrup
Melt together the butter, caramel and syrup, take off the heat and mix in the porridge oats. Spread onto baking parchment on trays to about 1cm depth, then bake for 15 mins at 200C. 180C if your oven is a bit tonto like mine. Let it cool, then crumble up and mix with some dried fruit or something. Use what you want really. Aldi (f**king Aldi! who'd've thunk it?) do a really good dried cranberry and raisin mix which is spot on imo.
So you get quick energy from all the sugars, plus fibre and slow-release energy from all the barely cooked oats. Brilliant.
The important bit is the caramel sauce - make it yourself. It keeps for ages and is ace for all sorts of things. 250g caster sugar, 4tbsp water, into a pan over a high heat, until it's all melted and bubbling. Do not f**k about with this it will be as hot as the surface of the sun in no time at all, easily 150C or more, you do not want to splash that s**t on your skin, or let kids near it, very f**king important. After about six or seven minutes, when it's starting to go golden brown, mix in 140ml of cream and 50g of butter - this wants to be room temperature, not cold. Be careful, the cream will boil instantly, and a s**tload of steam will be generated immediately- you'll scald yourself if you don't watch it.
