I have a chequered history of dumpage. In the Oman it was a dreadful experience indeed using a contraption known as a DTL or Deep Trench Latrine. Basically a six foot pit with a half a dozen trap seats in a bench atop the pit for communal crapping. After a week or so the pit was inhabited by zillions of flies which promoted a very weird sensation when crawling around ones rikker (Poss marketing idea for Lib Dems perhaps). Think "The Green Mile". We had the same contraptions in Iraq and one unfortunate soul contrived to drop his rifle down it into 3 foot of s**t. Made me realise that my lot was not so bad after all. Definitely not somewhere to read the sports pages.
