The English FA hopes that Guus Hiddink will follow Sven-G?ran Eriksson as England manager after the World Cup in Germany. Hiddink, currently manager of PSV and Australia, also appears to be interested in the job, reports De Telegraaf today.
Hiddink would take over directly after the World Cup. The FA wants him on a part-time basis until his contract with PSV expires. He would then take the full-time role as of 2008. Hiddink's contract with the Eindhoven club runs until the middle of next year.
Eriksson and the FA decided on Monday to go their separate ways after the 2006 World Cup. That is two years earlier than planned. The Swedish coach was disciplined for comments he made to an undercover journalist.
