I see Ashton's one-year tenure at Carrow Road in much the same way as I see Scott Parker (or perhaps Peter Crouch)'s loan spell - a move that benefitted all parties without ever really looking like a really long-term arrangement, because the player was just a bit too good for us.
With Ashton it needn't have been the case, but that's the fault of the manager and the board rather than the player. Ashton celebrated all of those Prem goals with his team-mates in front of the City crowd, and he meant it, I honestly believe that.
He was a brilliant player and always struck me as a fairly intelligent, honest guy and I wish him all the best.
