Since 1986 - which actually excludes our 'good' years - we have the 16th BEST League Cup record (above the likes of Stoke, Sunderland & Palace)
The All-Time LC chart has us placed NINTH (above West Ham & Everton)
Now, I am sure you can pick out a 5 or 6-year time-frame that suits your purpose, but overall our record (in both cups) is far from that which you hysterically present.
