Doncaster was on the radio this morning

Deano has 700k to come from the money from when he signed his new contract last summer, apparently if the club hadn't agreed to give him that money he wouldn't have signed the new contract and would have left in the summer. He was unhappy and wanted to leave so they had to get the best deal possible. So it seems that he probably wanted to leave in the summer but we persuaded him to stay a bit longer with the cash. Thinking back I think it was always his intention to leave in January, he hasn't looked happy from day 1.
