The response from the club later this month will be

"We looked at a number of players in the transfer window and made enquiries with a view to signing a few players. Unfortunately the sums they were asking were silly money and the club was not prepared to put itself in financial difficulty. We are in a stable position financially and would not want to jeopardize that for the sake of one player"
