Why are we surprised about today?

This is what I posted after Watford played at Derby.
I went to Pride Park today
Watford looked a very, very good side.
Mackay looked fit, distributed the ball well, won almost all challenges, played fair, organised those around him, motivated them too. What the hell were we doing getting rid of him, and then getting nobody similar to replace him.
