agree - in reality this is a decent deal all round

we are getting ?8m for Ashton's potential rather than his current ability - unless his form picked up dramatically, as you say, he'll leave for less in july.

West Ham are paying over the odds but are getting a great player who, with good coaching, will become a regular international - they are taking a gamble but I reckon it will pay off for them.

No grudges against ashton at all - he deserves to be in the premiership and has made us ?5m profit in a year!
