I'm of Irish descent so I have neither family nor parochial reasons to defend the place. I've been to hundreds of towns all over Britain and Ireland through work and football, and Lynn compares more than favourably with most of them.

In general, lazy, arrogant, blithe statements about such and such town being a s**thole are almost always inaccurate at best and just plain ignorant at worst.

Saying, I went out and I felt threatened does not count as evidence: it's anecdotal. If someone can point me to some genuine figures that show that Lynn is a more violent place than anywhere else of equivalent size, I'll happily concede the point.

I'm trying to be rational. I wish everyone else would.
