Deano is without doubt the most talented player currently on city?s books. He is probably the best ?all round centre forward? we have had since chris Sutton, and he has already proved that he can score consistently in the premiership
The way he conducts himself off the pitch is impeccable, particularly during all the speculation about his future
If city were in reading?s or even sheff utd?s position, I don?t think there would be anywhere near as much speculation regarding deano leaving
We are not in the top 2 because we have underperformed massively for the majority of the season. This is the fault of the coaching staff AND the players, including deano, who went 10 games without scoring recently
We have a realistic(ish) chance of making the play offs, and therefore of gaining promotion, but this will become considerably less likely if deano leaves, no matter who we buy to replace him
Deano has not played a complete season for norwich, the club that first gave him the chance to play in the premiership
Deano signed a contract extension in august, stating that the club?s ambition matches his
If deano told the club that he did not want to leave, I do not think he would be sold, regardless of the value of the bid (?)
Deano is clearly a potential England regular, but there is no way that he will make the world cup squad now, even if he?s playing in the premier until the end of the season
Deano must take his share of the responsibility for city?s poor league position, and, along with the rest of the squad, make every effort to put things right and get us into the play offs
