I think most of the moaning is people who said we really needed a CB and see those mistakes as confirmation.

Someone who would be a step-up would've been quite hard to sign, you're right. If we couldn't find someone like that, though, I'd have liked to see us bring in some genuine competition for him, which would mean competition for Whittaker by extension. Someone around his level or above would be really handy to have right now and I'm sure there'd have been plenty of those available.
