Maybe a reaction to childhood Stuff. But can't really stand the game. It would help if I understood the rules better, I guess.
Having said which, football could learn a heck of a lot from rugby in terms of how the officials are regarded. Swear at the ref = off. Etcetera. On the flip side, officials who didn't really need to go to Specsavers after all would be a nice thing in our sport, as would intelligent use of video.
Still and all, rugby today strikes me as the paean to the informal pharmaceutical sector that cycling was not so long ago. I actually think cycling is now cleaner than it's ever been and certainly cleaner than many other sports. Just my opinion, but I think rugby falls far short of those standards. Which is sad.
