""Jeremy was up for it," Rosie said on the phone, but then it fell apart after Bryant insisted on "a 30-minute conversation about what would happen if we had to invade Russia".
That was a conversation Jeremy clearly wasn?t prepared to have. Bryant was out."
It's never ever ever going to happen, so its an academic conversation at best. What an absurd thing to either not have a conversation about, or to refuse a shadow post because you didn't talk about it.
Labour have a great opportunity for some very very easy electoral wins between now and the next GE by being a populist anti-austerity party, and some Labour MPs are spurning great opportunities to gain experience in shadow posts (which they'll need if they want to be a credible potential Government in 5 years' time), and they are cocking it up spectacularly because they can't see the wood for the trees and too many people are running scared of having Corbyn on their CV.
(Which is great from my perspective as it means the Lib Dems should benefit as a left-ish centrist and economically literate option for those who can't vote Tory.)
