(B) + (E): naivety

I can't believe that the Board lacks ambition, but there does seem to be an element of naivety regarding (B), in that we seem to enjoy aiming very high (laudable) but too often fail to land the targets as they either won't come or we can't meet asking prices (particularly the latter, I know its dangerous to rely on press reports but if our bidding strategy was remotely true, it suggests the Board hadn't quite cottoned on to the new reality of transfer prices in the New TV Deal world until too late).

Whilst I'm not suggesting we should ever accept being 'little old Norwich' by not aiming high, I can't help but feel we seem to lack a Plan B or C sometimes. The reality may be different, but that's the perception.

It could well be that we were a gnat's whisker away from signing all of the players we wanted and only missed out for reasons completely beyond our control, and we just suffered from sheer bad luck, but, well, you make your own luck sometimes.

All that said, I don't think it's as bad a window as lots of people are making out. It looks a stronger team to me, for not very much net outlay.

Should have PLENTY to spunk away in January should we need to.
