Mine keep going through the washing machine.

I'll use them in the gym, plugged into the machines, then when I'm done stick them in my shorts/trackie pocket and think no more about them. I only find them again when I'm pulling my kit out of the machine to hang it out. They normally last a half-dozen or so washes before giving up for good.
