Luca Toni is a free agent

Maybe this is me being completely delusional, but this guy could be an amazing signing. Strong, good hold up play, decent technical ability and most importantly has a pedigree as a top class goalscorer. Hit 20+ in Serie A for Verona in the past two seasons. He's close to 40 now, but never really had pace to lose.

Probably not the type of player Neil would be looking at, but looking at how successful Cambiasso was for Leicester this year (different position, I know), it just makes me think that Toni could give us the extra bit of quality that would keep us up comfortably, as we aren't in the market for that level of ability from younger players. Toni 9 shirts would also sell like hot cakes, maybe even more so if he's nicknamed Graham.

Problem would probably be his wages and trying to convince him to live in England rather than Australia (he's in very early negotiations with Adelaide United from the A-league). Having said that, I doubt he would turn his nose up at a premier league club if we could work around those two issues.
